About wtfShouldIDo.com

The idea for wtfShouldIDo.com grew out of a response to my own personality. As anyone who knows me can attest, I am indecisive and have a tendency not to trust my own opinions when dealing with any issue of more depth than ice cream flavor selection. I am a “Poll Taker” by inclination and I get people’s advice and opinions on just about everything. While I would describe myself as being a bit on the extreme end, there is nothing unique about needing advice. We all need it. Life is just too complex and our perspective too small to think we have all the answers.

Now, as much as I love to torment my friends, family, husband, and dogs with my dilemmas, I recognize it doesn’t always work out so well, and not just because people are starting to run screaming when they see me approaching. Friends and family can be too “close” to the issue to objective, they can be big mouthed gossips, and sometimes their advice can just suck.

The contingent of so-called professional advice givers are not an option. Advice in “Women’s” Magazines and many self-help books seem more like fortune cookie rejects. Margo Howard (of Dear Margo fame) is great for my mother, but is too old fashioned for me. Dr. Phil is arrogant, obnoxious, and peddles mediocre pop psychology at best. I’m not saying anything about Oprah because I’m pretty sure she can have me killed.

So the idea for wtfShouldIDo.com came from my own desire to have advice that’s real and useful A site where you can…

  • Ask love, career & life questions to your hearts content.
  • Share your problems and questions with people who don’t know you or the people you’re stressing about.
  • Get advice from all sorts of people who have either been through what you are going through or at least have an opinion about it. (And who doesn’t have an opinion.)
  • Not only get advice, but give advice, help people and share your wisdom.
  • Read about other people’s love, career & life challenges and discover you are not alone.

I truly want wtfshouldIdo.com to be a place where people feel safe, get or give useful advice, and have fun doing it. I want it to be a community of people who don't take themselves or life too seriously, can take (and give) a joke, feel that canned or new-age advice aren't for them, and who believe that with some time and guidance this too shall pass. I welcome your participation and, of course, any advice you have on how to make wtfshouldIdo.com better.

Thanks so much,
